Thanks for your interest in the new version of the Jazz Combo/improv workshop. Jazz Aspen Snowmass has generously agreed to support our efforts with this project.
The Combo/Improv workshop will be kind of a focused and mentor led jam session, where valley wide HS/MS musicians can learn, play, and perform together regularly. We'll concentrate on learning a set of tunes each nine weeks, arranging them, and learning how to improvise over them. Then, we'll perform the tunes in concert(s).
Depending on interest, we'll have multiple combos, each with members of similar experience level. We'll also try to keep a jam session component each session.
After speaking with most of you, it looks like Mondays will still be the evening that's most accessible for everyone. We'll meet mid-valley in Carbondale, at Roaring Fork High School. If transportation is an issue, perhaps we can talk with some parents about car pooling.
The following schedule is subject to change, depending on facility availability...
This spring we'll do two 9 week sessions on Mondays:
Session 1; Jan 22-Mar 19 7:00-9:30pm
Session 2; Mar 26-May 28 7:00-9:30pm
Each session will culminate in a performance or two.
